consideration, we come to the conclusion that Scheme 2
is the most advantageous for the Terminal Station of 80
important a Railway.
To aroy of course, aware that the
acquisition of so much land will be an additimal expense
to the Colony; but we are of opinion that whatever site
is eventually decided upon, the whole of the land between
Macdonnell Road and Des Voeux Road should be resumed at
once so as to put aside all fear of oremping the terminal
arrunguwenta in the future, and when the definite plans
are made sucù portions of the land as are not immediately
required might be let on short toms with power of
resumption whenever any portion of the Station may have to

In this corection we would observe that if
hereafter the width of the Station may have to be increased
the bend at the western end of Mi÷dle Road could be
straightened by removing the Water Police Station as
indicated by dotted lines on plen Scheme 2 A.
To sum up and in view of the foregoing considor-
ations, we beg to recomend »
1.
That the Hong Kong Government should soquire all
the land for both Schemes 3 and 8.
2. That the permanent tomminus should be constructed
